Pattini at 5A: A Flavourful Italian Feast in New Cairo

Italian restaurants are hardly a rarity in New Cairo, but finding one that delivers consistently from the first bite to dessert is another story. Pattini, located at 5A, aims to do exactly that with a menu of comforting Italian classics, attentive service, and a warm, elegant setting. We paid a visit to see whether it lives up to the hype.

The Complimentary Appetisers

Shortly after placing your order, you’re served a basket of sliced bread, toasted to perfection. The bread is warm, crisp on the outside, and soft on the inside. It is accompanied by a small bowl of cream cheese that adds a rich, creamy flavour. Soon afterwards, each guest receives a small glass of pink lemonade. Light and refreshing, it makes for a lovely start to the meal while waiting for the main dishes to arrive.

The Chicken Lemon Pasta

We started with the Chicken Lemon Pasta (410 EGP), which was creamy, zesty, and full of flavour. The sauce had a well-balanced citrus taste that was noticeable without being overpowering. The chicken was tender and well-cooked, while the pasta itself was cooked al dente. The combination of creaminess and freshness made this dish one of the highlights of the meal and an excellent choice for anyone looking for something both comforting and refreshing.

Truffle Creamy Pepper Chicken

Next, we ordered the restaurant’s famous Truffle Creamy Pepper Chicken (565 EGP), which was tender and packed with flavour. The truffle added a rich, earthy depth that complemented the creamy pepper sauce perfectly. The dish was served with mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables. The potatoes were smooth and buttery, while the vegetables were fresh and cooked just enough to retain their texture, making the entire plate feel well-balanced.

Gnocchi Cordon Bleu

We then moved on to a fan favourite: the Gnocchi Cordon Bleu (515 EGP). The Cordon Bleu itself was crisp, golden, and not overly oily. It was covered in a creamy pink sauce and accompanied by tender pieces of gnocchi. The sauce added a pleasant richness to the dish, while the chicken remained juicy on the inside. It’s easy to see why this has become one of the restaurant’s most popular menu choices.

The Dessert

To finish, we ordered the Lemon Crème Brûlée (225 EGP), which was creamy, zesty, and slightly tart. The balance between sweetness and citrus made it a refreshing way to end the meal. It was served inside lemon shells, a creative presentation that enhanced its visual appeal and helped it stand out from a typical dessert. The texture was smooth and silky, making every spoonful thoroughly enjoyable.

360 Tip

Be sure to reserve a table before your visit, particularly on weekends and during peak dining hours. Pattini is a popular spot, and booking ahead will help you avoid long waits and secure a good table.

Best Bit

The standout dish of the meal was undoubtedly the Chicken Lemon Pasta. Perfectly cooked al dente, it struck a wonderful balance between creamy richness and bright citrus notes, creating a flavour profile that felt both distinctive and memorable.

Worst Bit

While the Gnocchi Cordon Bleu was enjoyable overall, the gnocchi itself fell slightly short. It was a little chewy and lacked the depth of flavour found in the rest of the dish, making it the least impressive element on the plate.
